Lately, I’ve been listening to podcasts more than music. I find that listening to podcasts takes my mind off of whatever boring task I’m trying to complete and makes it go by faster.
Though, ever since I began listening to podcasts, it has been difficult to find podcasts by females for females. While listening to other podcasts never disappoints, having one that discusses the intricacies of being a women helps me understand how to navigate a male dominated world.
With that being said, here are three podcasts hosted by women for women.
This female hosted podcast is hosted by women on both coasts of the country. What I love about this podcast is the differing perspectives that each host has to offer on subjects that affect women. All of the hosts come from many different backgrounds and never fail to offer a new perspective.
Although this podcast is new, the episodes never disappoint. In fact the second episode is my favorite so far. In this episode the hosts dive into what freedom really is and how is affects women. I highly suggest listening to this episode, but of course since there are only two, you might as well listen to both.
2. The Thick
This was one of the first female hosted podcasts I had ever listened to. I love this podcast because both of the hosts are women of color, like me. Both hosts Tabria and Mindy discuss their experiences in the world and how they deal with it. They also dive into topics such as relationships, self worth and privilege.
While this podcast is great at offering new perspectives and advice, you should know that both Tabria and Mindy don’t hold back. With that being said, if you’re uncomfortable with cursing or crude language this podcast might not be for you.
3. Stuff Mom Never told You
This is by far the most interesting female hosted podcast I’ve found. This podcast is great for learning the answers to those questions you’ve always have had. Hosted by two women who are both hilarious and informative, this podcast provides extremely interesting information. One recent episode that I’ve found to be quite fascinating was about the emotional labor women do and whether or not it can be considered labor.
If you’re ever bored and want to learn anything relating to women I recommend giving this podcast a listen.
I hope you give all of these a try. If you have any other podcast suggestions let me know in the comments below!
